Founders Letter
As a young man I fell in love with Boulder and decided to make it my home. In 1978, I went on a quest to find the perfect building to house my office. The Highland School, perched majestically on the high bank of the Boulder Creek, was boarded-up and abandoned, tragically left to decay while city planners debated its future. I was able to look past the caved-in roof, warped floors and broken windows to see a true diamond in the rough. The tall ceilings, ornate red brick exterior and carved sandstone detailing stood in testament to its timeless beauty.
I purchased Highland and began the painstaking task of bringing her back to life. Twenty-seven years later, surrounded by graceful, award winning gardens and peacefully flowing creeks, this historic landmark is the premier office space in Boulder. The Highland property includes four residential town homes sited on the bank of Boulder Creek, making it the city's first mixed-use development. City Club, situated in Highland's elegantly renovated basement, has become a social, educational and civic hub of our community.
The Highland School was here before my grandfather was born, and will be here after my grandchildren are gone. It is my sincere privilege to be the custodian of this well polished gem. Please stop in for a tour.
Sincerely,
